About Transactional Analysis

Transactional Analysis (TA) was first developed by Eric Berne in the 1960s as a theory of human behaviour, personality and communication.

It is a widely recognised and respected psychological approach. The broad range of tools it provides creates a flexibility that makes it a highly effective method of articulating a number of potential directions for any therapeutic work.

Our sessions will explore your thinking, feeling and behaving and look at how these have been shaped by your past experience.

The goal is for you to regain autonomy over your life which is the recovery of three vital human capacities – spontaneity, awareness and intimacy.

At the heart of TA is the basic philosophy that:

  • People are okay – every individual has value and worth

  • Everyone has the capacity to think.

  • People have choices and are able to decide their own destiny.
